2005 in Review-Looking to 2006

Firstly, I would like to thank each and every one of you for you interest in & support of Gove Amateur Astronomers over the past 12mths.
We have now grown to a club of over 70 members, who have shared some wonderful nights together under our clear northern skies.
These never ending wonders of the Universe have been shown to interested members of our wonderful NE Arnhem land Community.
With so much racial tension splashed all over the news, it is heartening to see members of our diverse community
sharing together in the appreciation of our universe.
Major Highlights for the year have been:
* GAA becomes an Incorporated Association
* School Holidays Astronomy night, on the NPS Oval.
* The "Wild Universe Tour" at the festival
* An astronomy night at Dhupma (Garma site) for year 6&7 Town & Yolngu kids camp.
* The clubs 1st "Astrocamp" at the same site
* G3 carried out remedial work to the lighting at the "G3 village" dramatically reducing the light pollution.
* The "Void at the end of the Universe" lecture by Prof. Ray Norris to a packed audience.
* Mars made its bright return to our evening skies after 2 yrs away in the void !
2006 is set to be a big year for Astronomy in Gove too, beginning with:
"Telescopes & Astronomy night"
As part of the "School Holiday Fun" program, by Rene from NCL.

* A display of Club Telescopes & their different features
* Door prize of a years subscription to Australian Sky & Telescope magazine.
* Space theme colouring in, for the children.
* Feature DVD presentation "15yrs of Hubble Space Telescope" @ 8pm
* Presentation on "Choosing & Using" a Scope
* Astronomy accessories & Publications will be on sale.
* Telescope maintenance & selection "Clinic"
* All are encouraged to bring their scopes along to the "Clinic"
* Food and drinks will be on sale
